Weddings

I love to photograph weddings and I hope it shows in the results. On the blog pages you can view sets of images from a few weddings I have covered: Dan and Sue’s wedding in Melbourn, Jörg and Marine’s and Jo and Mark’s weddings in Cambridge, and Ivan and Fraser’s civil ceremony in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Your day will, I’m sure, be wonderful, but it’s likely to go by in a whirl. Let me make a record for you of the event and of the good times you, your friends, and your family have. Contact me by email or phone and I can tailor a package just for you and take pictures everyone will smile at for years to come.

About

Damian Counsell taken by Klair Bird at Spectrum Photographic

My name is Damian Counsell. I run Sepial, previously based in Cambridge and now moved to Brighton & Hove.

Unlike most professional photographers today, I use real film. I believe that, in good hands, film photography makes more beautiful pictures than digital photography. Fortunately for me, most digital photographers don’t have good hands.

Compare my photos on this site with my competitors’. I don’t manipulate my images, either in the darkroom or with tools like Photoshop—except to crop, rotate, or resize them for the Web. My images have appeared in magazines and newspapers in the UK, the States, and the Middle East.

It’s a pleasure to read and hear people’s enthusiastic responses when they see the results of my work, but it’s also particularly satisfying when clients and guests compare the way I go about my business favourably with their experiences of other photographers they’ve encountered. The last thing you need at a stressful occasion like a wedding is a bossy, rude, or creepy person annoying your nearest and dearest.

I don’t just do weddings and events. If you are, for example, an actor and would like a distinctive promotional portrait or run a business and would like pictures of your staff, workplace, or venue I guarantee an excellent result or you won’t have to pay me a penny. Lots of people ask me about food photography, but that is outside my experience; I am not a studio photographer and I wouldn’t know where to start with shooting a raspberry coulis—or even a kebab.

Contact me if you are interested in my photographing you and your family or friends or colleagues or business. I won’t give you a hard sell and you might find that the price of real photography more reasonable than you were expecting.
